Day 13 (2023.11.09) in NY

 

좀 쉬려고 스타벅스에 왔다. 커피를 둘 곳이 없어서 옆에 할아버지께 양해를 구해 할아버지 테이블에 내 커피를 두었다. 현지인과 스몰토크는 재밌다.

I came to Starbucks to get some rest. I couldn't find a place to put coffee, so I asked my grandfather for his understanding and left my coffee on the grandfather's table. Small talk with locals is fun.

 

뉴욕에 올 때 비행기 옆 자리에 한국인 뉴요커 남자가 있었다. 나는 스몰토크를 해보자는 이번 여행의 목표가 있어서 용기 내어 그에게 말을 걸었다. 다행히 공통 관심사가 있어서 대화를 잘 나눌 수 있었다. 여행 중에 무슨 일 생기면 연락하라고 그는 자신의 연락처를 주었다. 그리고 여행 중에 시간 되면 저녁을 같이 먹자고 말씀해 주셨다.

When I came to New York, there was a Korean New Yorker man next to the plane. I had the goal of this trip to have a small talk, so I took the courage to talk to him. Fortunately, I had a common interest, so I was able to have a good conversation. He gave me his contact information to contact me if anything happened during the trip. And he asked me to have dinner with him if I had time during the trip.

 

여행도 어느덧 막바지에 이르렀다. 그와 저녁을 먹고 싶었지만 먼저 연락할 수 없었다. 그도 자기 생활이 있을 텐데 방해하고 싶지 않았기 때문이다. 그런데 감사하게도 먼저 연락을 주셨다. 그래서 오늘은 그와 저녁을 먹기 위해 뉴저지로 가고 있다. 현지인이 맛있는 저녁을 사주신다고 하니 기대가 된다.

The trip has already come to an end. I wanted to have dinner with him, but I couldn't contact him first. He must have his own life, but I didn't want to disturb him. Thankfully, they contacted me first. So today I am going to New Jersey to have dinner with him. I'm looking forward to hearing that the locals are going to buy me a delicious dinner.

 

배에서 보는 맨해튼의 모습은 정말 환상적이다. 별이 도시에 내려온 느낌이다.

The view of Manhattan from the ship is fantastic. It feels like a star has descended on the city

 

 

Day 14 (2023.11.10) in NY

 

오늘도 평화로운 퀸즈의 아침이다. 사람들이 모여 기체조 같은 것을 하고 있다.

It's a peaceful morning in Queens again today. People are gathering to do something like gymnastics.

 

그 유명한 브루클린 브리지를 보기 위해 지하철에서 내렸다. 지하철에도 브루클린 브리지 관련 그림이 있어 신기하다. 아라비카 카페에서 브루클린 동행들을 만나기로 했다. 근처에 웅장한 브루클린 브리지가 보인다.

I got off the subway to see the famous Brooklyn Bridge. It's amazing that there's a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge on the subway. I am going to meet my Brooklyn companions at the Arabica cafe. I can see the magnificent Brooklyn Bridge nearby.

 

로스터 기기가 있는 거 보니 커피가 아주 맛있을 것 같다. 카페 안은 굉장히 깔끔하다. 강아지도 자유롭게 출입한다. 강아지들이 다들 너무 귀엽고 얌전하다. 창가 자리에서 브루클린 브리지가 바로 보인다. 브루클린에 살면 이 카페를 자주 올 것 같다.

I think coffee will be very delicious since there's a roaster device. It's very neat inside the cafe. Dogs are free to enter. All the puppies are so cute and calm. I can see the Brooklyn Bridge right from the window seat. If I live in Brooklyn, I think I will come to this cafe often.

 

유명한 장소에 도착했다. 마치 양 건물을 다리가 이어주는 것 같다. TV에서 보던 장소에 내가 서 있다니 정말 신기했다. 평소 기념샷을 안 찍지만, 이곳에서는 찍고 싶었다.

I arrived at a famous place. It's as if a bridge connects both buildings. It was amazing that I was standing in a place I saw on TV. I don't usually take pictures, but I wanted to do it here.

 

브루클린 브리지 쪽에서 배를 타고 윌리엄스 버그로 이동할 계획이다. 배를 타고 가면 경치도 볼 수 있고 빨라서 좋다. 윌리엄스 버그에 도착했다. 강아지들이 뛰노는 평화로운 곳이다. 윌리엄스버그는 거리도 재밌고 사람들도 멋지다.

We plan to travel to Williamsburg by boat from the Brooklyn Bridge side. If I go by boat, I can see the scenery and it's good because it's fast. We've arrived at Williamsburg. It's a peaceful place where dogs run. Williamsburg has fun streets and nice people.

 

브랜드의 개성에 맞게 꾸며진 가게들이 많다. 걸을 때마다 애플 로고의 안쪽 모습이 다르게 보인다. 멋진 연출이다. 이곳은 힙한 가게들이 많다. 한 소품샵에 들어왔다. 예쁜 옷들과 소품들이 많다. 삼성전자 스토어가 있어서 방문했다. 직원 분들이 정말 유쾌하고 열정 넘쳤다. 매장을 브루클린 느낌이 나게 잘 꾸민 것 같다. 화장실을 가기 위해 잠시 아무 카페나 들어왔다. 역시 브루클린 답게 엄청 자유롭고 힙하다.

There are many shops that are designed to suit the individuality of the brand. Every time I walk, the inside of the Apple logo looks different. It's a brilliant effect. There are many hip shops here. I came into a prop shop. There are many pretty clothes and props. I visited the Samsung Electronics store. The staff members were so cheerful and passionate. I think the store is well decorated to look like Brooklyn. I came into any cafe for a while to go to the bathroom. Like Brooklyn, it's very free and hip.

 

노을이 보이길래 일몰을 보기 위해 후다닥 도미노 공원으로 왔다. 이스트강바람을 맞으며 오늘 하루도 점점 저물어 감을 느낀다. 노을이 지는 브루클린이다. 다른 사람들도 저마다 노을과 함께 사진을 찍는다. 친구들끼리 온 모양이다. 뉴욕의 가을이 물씬 느껴지는 장면 같아 한 참을 바라봤다.

I came to Domino's Park in a hurry to see the sunset because I could see the sunset. I feel the wind of the East River and it's getting dark today. It's Brooklyn where the sunset is setting. Others take pictures with the sunset, too. It looks like they are friends. I thought it was a scene where I could feel the autumn of New York, so I looked at it.

 

윌리엄스 버그에서 west light라는 루르탑바를 갔다. 그곳에서 브루클린과 맨해튼 야경을 감상했다. 높은 곳에서 내려다보는 뉴욕의 야경은 정말 최고다. 이렇게 관광하다가 보는 거 말고, 열심히 일하고 나서 친구들과 같이 뉴욕의 야경을 내려다보면 가슴이 벅찰 것 같다. 다음에 뉴욕에 온 다면 뭔가 노동 같은 것을 해보고 싶다. 그리고 야경을 보면 뭔가 또 다른 감정이 들 것 같다.

called west light in Williamsburg I went to a rooftop bar. I enjoyed the night view of  Brooklyn and Manhattan there. The night view of New York from a high place is the best. I think it would be overwhelming to look down at the night view of New York with my friends after working hard. If I come to New York next time, I want to do something like labor. And when I see the night view, I think I'll feel something different.
