Day 11 (2023.11.07) in NY

 

오늘 갑자기 날씨가 따듯하다. 그래서 계획에 없던 센트럴파크로 동행들과 함께 간다. 언제나 낭만이 넘치는 센트럴 파크다. 평일 오후라 그런지 사람이 별로 없다. 뉴요커들은 원반 던지기를 참 좋아한다. 돗자리 깔고 포장해 온 점심을 세팅했다. 점심을 먹고 있는데 한 강아지가 다가왔다. 먹을 것 때문에 온 것 같은데 달라고 보채지도 않고 얌전히 앉아 있는 모습이 정말 귀엽다. 주인이 부르자 달려가는 모습이 듬직하다.

The weather is suddenly warm today. So I'm going to Central Park, which was not planned. Central Park is always full of romance There aren't many people, maybe because it's a weekday afternoon. New Yorkers love to throw discus. I set up a packed lunch on a mat. I was having lunch when a dog came up to me. I think the dog came to eat, but he sat quietly without asking for food. That's so cute. He is reliable when his master calls him.

 

Central Park에는 언제나 음악이 함께한다. 거리에서 이렇게 좋은 재즈를 들을 수 있다니 정말 재밌는 도시다. 이러니 뉴욕에 점점 정이 들 수밖에 없다. 창문의 그림과 아이들이 매칭돼서 너무 귀여운 순간이다. 냉큼 카메라를 들고 이 순간을 담았다. 뉴욕에서도 태권도가 인기 있나 보다.

Music is always with Central Park. It's such an interesting city to hear such good jazz on the streets. This is why I have no choice but to become attached to New York. It's such a cute moment because the pictures on the window and the kids match. I took the camera and captured this moment. Taekwondo must be popular in New York.

 

트램 위에서 맨해튼 도시를 감상하기 위해 루즈벨트 아일랜드 트램을 타는 곳으로 가고 있다. 트램을 타는 사람들을 보면 관광객들 보다는 교통수단으로 트램을 타려는 뉴요커가 더 많은 것 같다. 트램에 타서 냉큼 창가자리를 사수했다.

To appreciate the city of Manhattan on the tram I’m on my way to the Roosevelt Island tram. When I look at people riding tram, it seems like there are more New Yorkers who want to take trams by means of transportation than tourists. I got on the tram and guarded the window seat.

 

트램에서 보는 맨해튼은 마치 뮤직비디오 한 장면처럼 낭만적이었다. 퇴근하고 다들 집에 가는 차량들인 것 같다. 트램속도가 그렇게 빠르지 않아서 다행히 맨해튼 도시를 천천히 살펴볼 수 있다. 퇴근하고 아파트에서 쉬고 있는 사람들의 모습이 어렴풋이 보인다. 퇴근길에 정체된 차량들의 모습에서 답답함이 아니라 여유가 느껴진다.

The view of Manhattan from the tram was as romantic as a scene from a music video. I think they're all on their way home after work. The tram isn't that fast, so fortunately we can take a slow look at Manhattan. I can dimly see people resting in their apartments after work. I feel a sense of relaxation, not frustration, in the sight of traffic stuck on my way home from work.

 

도시 건물들, 차량들 그리고 잔잔하고 깊은 강물이 내 마음을 사로잡았다. 루즈벨트 아일랜드에 사는 뉴요커들은 출퇴근길에 매일 이 풍경을 볼 수 있다니 정말 부러웠다.

City buildings, vehicles and calm and deep rivers have captured my heart. New Yorkers living in Roosevelt Island were really jealous that they could see this scenery every day on their way to work.

 

나도 모르게 뉴욕이라는 도시를 좋아하게 되었다. 가까이서 보면 냄새나고 무서울 때도 가끔 있지만 제대로 보면 예쁘고 첨단 도시 같다. 그리고 어디서나 음악 공연이 있다. 다양한 인종이 함께 협력도 하고 경쟁도 하는 이 도시가 좋아졌다.

I fell in love with the city of New York without realizing it. Sometimes it smells and is scary when I see it up close, but when I see it, it's pretty and looks like a high-tech city. And there are music performances everywhere. I like this city where various races cooperate and compete together.

 

루즈벨트 아일랜드에 다 와간다. 루즈벨트 아일랜드에서 바라본 맨해튼의 야경은 정말 근사하다. 사람들도 별로 없다. 조용히 맨해튼의 야경을 감상할 수 있다. 이곳이 유명해지지 않았으면 좋겠다.

I'm almost at Roosevelt Island. The night view of Manhattan from Roosevelt Island is wonderful. There aren't many people either. I can quietly enjoy the night view of Manhattan. I don't want this place to become famous.

 

한참을 멍 때리며 이런저런 생각에 잠겼다. 사색하기 좋은 장소다. 가을에서 겨울로 모습을 점점 바꾸고 있는 맨해튼이다. 겨울까지 있고 싶지만 돈 벌러 다시 돌아가야 한다.

I dazed for a long time, thinking about this and that, It's a good place to think. Manhattan is gradually changing its shape from autumn to winter. I want to stay until winter, but I have to go back to make money.
