예스러움과 최첨단이 조화를 이루고 예술이 가득한 뉴욕

Day 12 (2023.11.08) in NY

 

스파이더맨의 고향인 퀸즈는 어떤 모습일지 궁금했다. 그래서 숙소를 퀸즈로 잡았다. 퀸즈의 아침이다. 평화로운 도시인 것 같다. 오늘도 즐거운 여행을 해보자. 지하철을 타고 맨해튼으로 왔다. 하늘이 참 맑다. 유럽 느낌의 건물도 종종 보여서 더 매력적인 뉴욕이다. 구두 닦는 곳이 아직도 있다. 이렇게 예스러운 모습이 뉴욕을 더 매력적이게 한다.

I wondered what the Spiderman's hometown of Queens would look like. So I decided to go to Queens. It's morning in Queens. I think it's a peaceful city. Let's have a great trip today. I came to Manhattan by subway. The sky is so clear. New York is more attractive because we can often see European-style buildings. There's still a shoe scrubber. It makes New York more attractive.

 

카페에 앉아 멍 때리고 있었다. 그런데 내 왼쪽에 앉은 남자가 자기 노트북을 봐달라고 하고 자리를 떠나 화장실 쪽으로 갔다. 그 사람이 돌아왔다. 나는 그에게 화장실 비밀번호를 물어봤는데 그는 모른다고 했다. 화장실에 간 게 아니었나 보다. 그러자 내 오른쪽에 앉은 남자분이 내 말을 들었는지 화장실 비밀번호를 알려줬다. 재밌는 스몰토크 였다.

I was sitting in a cafe and spacing out. But the man on my left asked me to look at his laptop, and he left and went to the bathroom He's back. I asked him for the bathroom password He said he didn't know. I guess he didn't go to the bathroom. Then the man sitting on my right told me the bathroom password Maybe he heard me. It was a fun small talk.

 

뉴욕은 길거리 음식이 유명하다. 뉴요커들이 길거리에서 편안하게 식사하는 모습은 이제 익숙하다. 뉴요커 기분을 내고 싶다면 길거리에서 꼭 한 번 먹어봐야 한다.

New York is famous for street food. I'm used to seeing New Yorkers eat comfortably on the street. If you want to feel like a New Yorker, you should try it on the street.

 

뉴욕 현대 미술관인 MoMA에 도착했다. 이곳에서 겉옷이나 가방을 무료로 보관할 수 있다. 보관하는 곳이 현대적이고 보관 시스템도 있어서 놀랐다. 옛날 뉴욕의 모습을 보면서 시간여행을 한 기분이었다. 건물 안에 일하는 사람들이 보인다. 뉴욕에서 1년 정도 일해보고 싶다. 아침은 베이글로 시작하고 점심은 길거리에서 먹고 저녁은 친구들하고 맛있는 걸 먹고 싶다. 그리고 도시를 러닝하고 샤워하고 잠들면 좋겠다.

I arrived at MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art in New York. I can keep my outerwear or bag here for free. I was surprised that the storage area was modern and there was a storage system. Looking at New York in the past, I felt like I was traveling in time. I see people working inside the building. I want to work in New York for about a year. I want to start with bagel for breakfast, eat lunch on the street, and eat delicious food with my friends for dinner. And I want to run around the city, take a shower, and fall asleep.

 

 

Day 13 (2023.11.09) in NY

 

아침에 눈을 떴는데 집에 가고 싶다는 생각이 들었다. 한국 가서 이제 내 것을 해야겠다는 조바심 때문일까. 뉴욕에는 예스러운 성당이나 교회도 곳곳에 있어서 뉴욕이 더 매력적인 것 같다. 오늘도 나는 역시 다크서클과 함께한다. 구겐하임 미술관을 찾고 있다.

When I woke up in the morning, I thought I wanted to go home. Maybe it's because I'm anxious to go back to Korea and do my own thing. New York seems to be more attractive because there are many churches and churches in New York. Today, I'm with dark circles as expected. I'm looking for the Guggenheim Museum.

 

구겐하임 미술관에 도착했다. 생각보다 훨씬 웅장하다. 저렇게 동글동글 걸으며 전시를 보는 것이 매력이다. 내부도 생각보다 크다. 현장학습을 온 학생들이 많다. 학생들이 떠들지 않고 작품에 집중하는 모습이 멋있다. 신기하게 마침 60~70년대 한국에 대한 전시가 있다. 낯선 도시에서 한국을 느낄 수 있어 반갑고 따듯하다. 걷다가 고개를 돌려 내가 봤었던 작품을 다시 보며 감상할 수 있어서 좋다. 그림뿐만 아니라 설치예술 작품도 있다. 그리고 디지털작품도 있어 참 다양하다.

I arrived at the Guggenheim Museum. be much grander than one might think. It's attractive to see the exhibition while walking around like that. The inside is bigger than I thought. There are many students who came on field trips. It's cool to see students focus on their work without making noise. Interestingly, there is an exhibition about Korea in the 60s and 70s. It is nice and warm to be able to feel Korea in an unfamiliar city. It's nice to be able to turn your head while walking and enjoy the work I've seen again. There are installation artworks as well as paintings. And there are digital works. It's very diverse.

 

이제 메트로폴리탄 미술관에 가고 있다. 가는 길에 이쁜 나무들이 있어 미술관 가는 길을 더 두근거리게 한다. 미술관 계단에서 사람들이 앉아 있는 모습이 여유롭다. 곧 12월이라 그런가 미술관 안에 크리스마스트리도 있는 게 신기하다. 역사가 있는 옛날 방을 그대로 재현했다. 영화 세트장에 온 기분이다.

Now I'm going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There are beautiful trees on the way, which makes the way to the art museum more exciting. It is relaxing to see people sitting on the stairs of the art museum. Is it because it's December soon, It's amazing that there's a Christmas tree in the museum. I recreated the old room with history. It feels like I'm on a movie set.
